Privacy Policy

At MyBlio, the protection of your data is paramount and has been an integral part of our project since its inception. With the advent of the European data protection law, we are committed to continuing and constantly improving our transparency regarding the personal information you entrust to us.

On this page, you will find all the information related to the data collected by MyBlio, as well as the rights necessary for the MyBlio application.

1. Data Controller and Data Protection Officer

The data controller referred to herein is Elpats EURL, with a capital of 1,000 euros, registered with the Bordeaux RCS under number 914 327 275 and whose registered office is located at 14 rue d'Aurios, 33150 Cenon, France.

Justin Staple is the publication director and designated as the data protection officer with the CNIL as of May 25, 2018, for all processing and operations carried out by MyBlio.

2. Possible Recourse to a Supervisory Authority

We inform our users that in the event of a serious breach not resolved by our services, the concerned individuals may address the judicial authority (i.e., law enforcement or courts) or the competent authority, which in France is the CNIL, or claim their rights directly from the data controller mentioned in the previous article.

3. Personal Data Collected by MyBlio

The data collected by the MyBlio service is in no way sold, shared, and/or reused for projects other than MyBlio.

3.1. Collected Data

As part of using the service, MyBlio collects information that we propose to list.

The data collected is mandatory to access the service and create a personal account:

  • your email address
  • a password
  • the visibility of your profile in the search engine: when you register, your profile is by default listed in the search engine accessible only to registered members on the platform. You can at any time “Disable” this indexing and reactivate it.

3.2. Optional Collected Data

This data is collected to offer you a service more suited to your needs and for ergonomic design and user experience improvement purposes. This data is also used to respond to your technical support requests.

  • Your “Username”: to allow your relatives to identify you more easily
  • Your location (city, postcode): this indicates in which geographical area you lend your books, especially in the context of a public account, your presence in a group, or if you add the iframe of your library to your blog or website.
  • Your “Biography”: provide more information to people with whom you wish to exchange books.
  • A photo or profile picture: this makes your profile unique and allows your relatives to identify you more easily
  • The list of books you own
  • Your book loans and borrowings
  • Your reviews on books
  • The cover photos of the books you upload
  • The descriptions of the books you manually write
  • The list of people you follow and who follow you
  • The information associated with your shelves (name, book sorting order, and visibility)
  • The information associated with your lists (name, description, book sorting order, and visibility)
  • the email addresses of the people you invite to the platform and/or to whom you lend your books: to be able to create their MyBlio account and to remind them by email when you want to get a book back that you lent them. The email addresses of the people you invite to the platform will be deleted from our database after 6 months if they do not respond favourably to your invitation.

3.3. Recording Information When You Use the Service

We collect information related to your use of the service. Similarly, when you use our services, we temporarily collect and store information in log files.

Here is a list of actions we record on the MyBlio platform:

  • Account creation and email confirmation
  • The number of books you have registered on the platform
  • The number of followers and followings you have on the platform and the email addresses associated with their accounts
  • The number of invitations you have pending
  • The number of books lent/borrowed
  • Friend or book reminders you have made
  • Your subscription/unsubscription to the mailing list
  • Actions such as accepting or cancelling a follow request or a loan
  • Book addition actions (scan, by keywords, or manually)
  • Standard account creation
  • Account and data or book deletion
  • Book information modification
  • Logging into your account via your email address
  • All book loans made
  • Book searches performed
  • Platform logout actions
  • Changing a book's shelf
  • Password change and generation request actions
  • Account data change actions (username, avatar, email address, etc.)
  • The number of loan requests
  • The number of email invitations to join MyBlio
  • Removing a member from a follower list
  • Book returns
  • Cancelling an invitation to become a friend

The groups you create and belong to and the following activities:

  • Adding and removing a member
  • Invitations sent by the group administrator
  • Invitations sent by group members
  • Group information modification
  • Group creation by a user
  • Books shared and removed in a group
  • Displaying group members

3.4. Purposes: How Do We Use the Data We Collect?

We use the data we collect to:

  • Allow you to communicate and exchange with other MyBlio members to define the terms of book loans and borrowings;
  • Give you access and allow you to communicate with our team in case of questions, great joys, or small problems;
  • Ensure compliance with applicable legislation, our terms of use, and our privacy policy. In case of breaches on your part, we may suspend your account on our platform;
  • Send you, in accordance with applicable legal provisions and with your consent when required by law, marketing, advertising, and promotional messages and information related to the use of our services, the terms of book loans and borrowings;
  • Inform you of changes to our services;
  • Manage our platform and perform internal technical operations for problem resolution, data analysis, testing, research, analysis, studies, and surveys;
  • Improve and optimise our platform, particularly to ensure that our content display is adapted to your device;
  • Allow you to use the interactive features of our services if you wish;
  • Help us maintain a healthy and secure environment on our platforms

3.5. Recipients of the Data We Collect

The data collected by the MyBlio service is in no way sold, shared, and/or reused for projects other than MyBlio.

As part of using our services, some of your information is transmitted to other community members through your profile if it is public or within the groups you have chosen to be a member of. You can check the visibility of each of this information in your account space.

3.6. Duration and Retention Period of the Data We Collect

The personal data collected by MyBlio related to the identity and contact details of its users are kept for the duration of the user's registration on the platform. Any deleted data or account is automatically removed from our database immediately.

Any inactive account will be automatically deleted after 5 years of inactivity (no login during this period).

3.7. Where the Data We Collect is Stored

All data is stored in France with a French host.

4. Specific Application Data

4.1. Use of the Camera by the Applications

The application needs access to your phone's camera to scan the barcode of the book you want to register. Camera data is not recorded, either on the device or online. The only information sent after the scan is the barcode value. We do not collect data related to the device you use for this.

4.2. Use of the Network by the Application

The application needs internet access to search for the scanned book's barcode. The application only communicates with our service and always securely (HTTPS protocol). This information is transmitted anonymously to third-party services to obtain search results.

5. Rights Related to Your Personal Data

5.1. Right of Access, Opposition, and Withdrawal

We want you to have full control over your data, which is why we offer you the ability to update it in your MyBlio account, as well as to delete your account for any reason. Once your request is made, we will delete your data from our servers immediately, and it will not be recoverable, so think carefully before taking this step.
Any written request will be processed within a maximum of 30 days.

5.2. Right to Data Portability

MyBlio allows you to download a CSV (.csv) file containing the following data:

  • the list of books you own

6. Security

The personal information we collect is kept in a secure environment. People working at MyBlio - Elpats are required to respect the confidentiality of your information.

To ensure the security of your personal information, we use the following measures:

  • SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) protocol
  • Access management
  • Computer backup
  • Username / password
  • Firewalls
  • Use of open-source software and tools as much as possible to protect users and the independence of another internet

We are committed to maintaining a high degree of confidentiality by integrating the latest technological innovations to ensure the confidentiality of your transactions. However, as no mechanism offers maximum security, there is always some risk when using the Internet to transmit personal information.

7. Newsletter

MyBlio is committed to using “Opt-in” forms (by a positive action, by checking a box corresponding to the wish to receive emails) to collect the explicit consent of users to receive our newsletter.

8. Cookies and Profiling

The term cookies should be taken in a broad sense and covers all trackers placed and/or read, for example, when visiting a website, reading an email, installing or using software or a mobile application (source: the CNIL website)

MyBlio places a single strictly necessary cookie for authentication on the platform on your browser solely to recognise the user as they navigate (from page to page).

Profiling is the possible subsequent use of personal data processing techniques of a natural person, in particular to make decisions concerning them or to analyse or predict their preferences, behaviours, and attitudes (source: REGULATION 2016/679 OF THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT AND OF THE COUNCIL of 27 April 2016 on GDPR). MyBlio does not use your data for profiling purposes.

9. Changes to This Privacy Policy

This privacy policy may be subject to changes. When this is the case, we will inform you through the usual communication channels we use:

  • by email as part of sending our Newsletter
  • on our social networks (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram)
  • on our website by displaying a pop-in window

This may result from the modification of the date indicated at the top of the privacy policy available on our website and our mobile application.
